Event Description

Few musicians personify Americana roots music as completely as Tony Furtado. An evocative singer, wide-ranging songwriter, and virtuoso multi-instrumentalist, Tony is adept on banjo, slide guitar, cello-banjo and baritone ukulele, blending styles with the flair of a master chef. A native of Pleasanton, California and now based in Portland, Oregon, Tony first captured national attention winning the National Bluegrass Banjo Championship at age 19, later recording six acclaimed albums with Rounder Records and collaborating with legends like Alison Krauss and Jerry Douglas. Influenced by Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, and David Lindley, he expanded his sound to include singing, songwriting, and leading his own band. A tireless performer, Tony has toured solo, in trios, and with full bands, appearing at major festivals including Telluride Bluegrass, High Sierra, Winnipeg Folk Festival, and more. Whether solo or with a band, Tony Furtado’s live shows are a dynamic journey through the heart of American roots music.
