Event Description

Saturday 9am - 12noon September 7, 14, 21, 28 & October 5 Circus and Acro Discovery is a play-based class which uses the setting of circus performance and acro movement to facilitate conscious growth, while fostering mental and physical health and wellbeing. While exploring circus performing skills- including stilt walking, juggling, clowning, balancing and partner acrobatics- participants learn options for facing challenges and growing through the experiences. Through supportive and intentional play, participants learn to replace “I can’t” with empowered options such as “I don’t want to” or “this feels hard”, thus allowing space for choice, movement, growth and deeper understanding of one's needs and wants. We will learn how to take the process of learning from play to work and back again by breaking down the components of success into building blocks. The program is open to all ages interested in exploring the role of play in achieving goals. Adults are encouraged to reconnect with their inner child, and are supported in taking the vigor and attitude of play into other parts of their life to find new avenues to generate energy and challenge negative self-talk. Kids will have a chance to develop fine and gross motor skills, learn about consent and nonverbal communication and discover a story of I CAN - IF I WANT TO. Young adults will reconnect with play and inspiration while they break down old stories and churn their soils to allow for new discovery and growth.
