100 km. How Hard Could it Be?
Sunday, August 31, 2025
Starts at Kin Beach in Vernon. Finishes at “The Peach” at Okanagan Beach in Penticton.
An epic endurance race you won’t soon forget. Length of the Lake is a tough, exhilarating day on the water with some of the most spectacular scenery British Columbia has to offer. Finish off the day with a great meal and a beverage by the lakeshore where you can and share stories and meet the other crews. Registration includes your meal and an event shirt (deadline for shirt order is August 1).
PADDLER/CANOE REQUIREMENTS: Length of the Lake is 100 km long and Okanagan Lake can deliver all sorts of wind and weather. This event is not recommended for novice crews and Junior crews will not be able to participate. For this first year back after a long hiatus, we will only be allowing OC-6s. No small boats allowed. All OC-6s will be classified as one category.
EARLY START: Available for any crews (spec, iron, those needing extra time) at 6:30 a.m. Everyone else 7:00 a.m. from Kin Beach in Vernon.
MIXED RELAY CREW: The Official crew who takes the trophy is the top mixed Relay crew, doing the race as a relay over the five legs. The individual leg crews can be made up of 3 men & 3 women, or it can be raced with 6 men and 6 women at a time in the canoe. Prizes awarded for top three.
MENS or WOMENS RELAY CREWS: Also welcome, but the trophy goes to the top mixed team. Prizes for top three.
CLUB CREWS: If 50 km is a little daunting, and you’d like to involve more people, Club Crews can be anywhere from 13-30 people. Mix them up however you like. This is not an official category and there won’t be prizes, but we will announce and recognize the top three.
IRON CREWS: For six brave souls who want to really see the entire Length of the Lake. This is for elite-level paddlers only.
RACE FEE is $100 + GST per person which includes your meal and an event shirt. Shirt orders must be received by August 1. There will not be a reduction in race fees for registrations received after August 1.
GPS TRACKING by WEBSCORER will be used. Each canoe must be equipped with a phone with a battery life long enough to last the race (approx 8-10 hours). The person who registers the crew and has the WEBSCORER account must be the one to login to the WEBSCORER app which will be downloaded onto the crew phone. Please ensure you have a waterproof case or bag for the phone and a way to secure it in your canoe.
CANOE/CREW CHECK-IN POINTS (MANDATORY) Crews must check-in and make their changes at these designated spots. Changes can either be beach or water. Water changes must happen where our officials can see/hear you and acknowledge verbally that you have been checked in and can proceed to the next stop.
CUT OFF TIMES will be implemented. Crews who do not make the cut-off time for each checkpoint have the option of pulling out of the race entirely, or loading their canoe and trailering to the next stop to try again. See the rules document.
MANDATORY STEERS MEETING Race Package pickup will be held Saturday, August 30 at Kin Beach in Vernon followed by a mandatory steerspersons meeting. This is where your canoes will be rigged and left overnight for the early morning start. Race Package Pick-up 4:30 pm-6:00 pm.
