If you are noticing chips, cracks, or other damage in your windscreen, it’s time for repair or replacement. Don't worry, though; Leading Edge Glass in Kelowna has made windshield repair and replacement easier than ever.

Cracks and chips are an immediate indication of repair needed, but windshield pitting is a serious concern too. Summer is right around the corner, and with it comes the dangerous windshield glare resulting from damage caused throughout the winter. All the sand and gravel used on our Okanagan roads and highways - to help us drive safely in snow and ice - are hard on windscreens. Often the damage seems minor—until the sun glare hits you.

Luckily, there is a Kelowna shop near you that makes windshield replacement easy. Leading Edge Glass has over 14 years of experience doing seamless swap-outs. In that time, they have also perfected the paperwork side of things for their customers—including helping clients with their ICBC claims.

ICBC Repairs Made Easy

We caught up with Tyler Fuller, the shop's owner, to find out how unique Leading Edge Glass is when it comes to their service. "Our customers want quality work—first and foremost. After that, they want less hassle. Our shop handles everything to do with ICBC for our clients, taking all the hassle out of the repair job,” states Tyler.

Tyler and his team go the extra mile to make it easier for their clients. The shop offers a courtesy car option, and also a pick-up and drop-off service for clients. This means that Leading Edge Glass gets you in and out of their shop fast. The team even has the ability to do same-day returns for clients - and it doesn’t get faster than that!

Keeping your vision clear may not require a full windshield swap-out, either. Something many auto owners don’t realize is that repair work to fix rock chips is also covered by ICBC; they endorse chip repairs at specific quality shops—like Leading Edge Glass.

Leading Edge Has Moved to a New State-of-the-Art Shop

Leading Edge has perfected taking care of clients hassle-free, but they have also figured out how to take their already top-quality work even further. A recent move in locations to 710 Stremel Road in Kelowna has Tyler's company working out of a new large, state-of-the-art shop, allowing their team of ticketed technicians to tackle more projects than ever, and all the work done with top-rated equipment.

"Your windscreen is only as good as the install," Tyler tells us, adding that a skilled windscreen installation is absolutely key for driving safely.

New Technology Demands Specific Requirements

HUD (Head-up displays that project information onto the windshield) and ADA (Advanced Driver Assistance) programs in newer vehicles demand very specific things within the windshield to function properly. If installation steps are skipped or quality slips, the systems that drivers rely on could be compromised.

"We use state-of-the-art technology from Autel to recalibrate the cameras or sensors attached to the windshield of modern cars and trucks," says Tyler. The type of vehicle they service is not limited; the new shop handles everything from the smallest commuter car to semi-trucks and motorhomes.

With all the new technology and the brand-new shop, we were curious if any vehicles pose a problem for the technicians. "None, really…" Tyler says, thinking, then decides on hot rods, possibly, for it seems it can be difficult to find some of the older pieces of glass, or needing to fit a custom build. Hot rods are also his passion, though, so he loves taking them on.

Tyler’s love of hot rods spills over into the business in other ways, too. The Leading Edge Glass team is the proud owner of a very cool 1949 delivery truck, which they use for community events and promotions. "Being a locally owned shop means we live and work here, too, and supporting the community is really important to us," Tyler says. His glass company supports important causes like the Central Okanagan Food Bank, and they are always stepping up to the plate with assistance with other local requests.

More Than Auto Repair: Handling Residential Work, Too

The 49' Milk Truck isn't used for actual glass delivery work, of course. Leading Edge Glass has a fleet of modern delivery and service trucks.

These are needed every day because Leading Edge Glass doesn't just do repairs in the shop, they also handle mobile glass replacements. They also cover the full spectrum of glass repair — patio glass panels, glass tabletops, and windows are all projects that they can also handle.

Home repairs are easy to schedule and getting in-home quotes is free, Tyler reminds us.

Watch for Tyler and the Leading Edge Glass team at the upcoming Father's Day Car show in Kelowna City Park on Sunday, June 15. They will be showing off their super clean (and rare) split windscreen on the front end of the shop's '49 GMC milk truck.
