First Nations band buys Tunkwa Lake Resort
The Lower Nicola Indian Band has purchased a resort near Logan Lake.
The band announced the purchase of Tunkwa Lake Resort yesterday, Oct. 14, in a news release, calling it a “premier destination for British Columbians and guests.”
The resort offers many outdoor activities, including fishing for rainbow trout, hiking, bird and wildlife viewing.
The current staff and management will continue to operate the resort.
“As an ownership group, we have worked extremely hard for the past 15 years to grow the resort and feel gratified that we are leaving it in the hands of a local community with the deepest possible roots in the area,” said Paul Patton, on behalf of the resort’s former owners.
The resort is surrounded by Tunkwa Provincial Park and features waterfront cabins, tenting campsites, RV sites, boat, kayak and paddle board rentals.
It was listed in May for $4.895 million by Land Quest Realty. The sale included 18 acres of property along the lakefront, and just narrowly avoided the massive Tremont Creek wildfire last year.
