A Kelowna restaurant that was forced to close its doors after refusing to follow public health orders is now up for sale.

Interior Health received numerous complaints that Renegade Kitchen and Craft Bar, located on Leon Street in downtown Kelowna, refused to check vaccine cards and the health authority provided the bar with information on current provincial health orders, Sept. 20.

The healthy authority then received additional complaints of non-compliance, according to the health authority’s order posted to the door of the restaurant.

The restaurant then tried to operate as an event-only venue but Interior Health said it still had to check proof of vaccinations. On Oct. 7, the restaurant was ordered to close.

A Royal LePage ad for the property at 467 Leon Ave. lists the price at $150,000 for a “turnkey, fully renovated and clean restaurant.” The sale includes all the furniture, fixtures and kitchen equipment.

There is currently two years and eight months left on the property’s current lease with a five-year tenant option after that, according to the listing.

“Any offers should be subject to landlord approval/lease assignment or successful negotiation of a new lease,” the listing reads.

Renegade Kitchen and Craft Bar's owners could not be immediately reached for comment.

It first opened at its Leon Avenue location in 2019 after starting off as a vegan food truck.
