TSVYE-gelt. Ever had it? If you are into lighter reds, you are going to love this.

This grape is an Austrian crossing between the Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent varieties that was pioneered by Dr. Zweigelt.

Zweigelt is one of the few red varieties that will thrive in cooler climates. It has been called a “cherry bomb” obviously because of its lovely cherry flavours and has a higher acidity. A good pizza wine, pair with chicken or even fish and shellfish.

Arrowleaf Cellars is owned and operated by the Zuppiger family. The winery In Lake Country is absolutely breathtaking and is set mountainside with soaring views of Okanagan Lake.

The wines are very affordable and delicious.

The Tasting Room is closed from Dec. 25 to Feb. 28. Online orders are open and they do offer delivery.

2018 Zweigelt
On the bouquet it shows abundant cherry, raspberry, dark chocolate and black pepper aromas. On the palate is medium bodied with rich fruit, spice and vanilla flavours lingering on the finish.
