iN WINE Wednesday: CedarCreek Sauvignon Blanc

CedarCreek Estate Winery Border Vista Sauvignon Blanc
CedarCreek Estate Winery Border Vista Sauvignon Blanc

Wine of the Week: 2018 Border Vista Sauvignon Blanc $29.99

Summer time is Sauvignon Blanc time. This fresh green skinned variety hails from the Bordeaux region of France. It is usually dry, a little zesty, with fresh flavours like green apple, peach and lime with wonderful herbaceous notes (New Zealand Sauv Blancs are known for their grassiness). It is the perfect remedy for a hot patio making it an excellent wine for summer in BC.

This beautiful Sauvignon Blanc is a new additon to CedarCreek's repertoire. Winemaker Taylor Whelan is the star behind the lineup of award-winning wines. His focus on organic viticulture and single vineyard wine production makes him the perfect fit to take this brand forward into plans for an organic future. CedarCreek was among the first in the Okanagan to produce single-block wines that are vineyard-led and they have been honing that craft to perfection.

Following Taylor's vision, this is a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc sourced from their Border Vista Vineyard in Osoyoos.

Tasting Notes: Gooseberry, green peppers, oily texture, bright acid and balanced weight on the palate. It is a wonderful choice to sip on a patio or to enjoy with food especially white fish, Asian dishes and goat cheese. Cheers.

CedarCreek Estate Winery at the end of Lakeshore Road in Kelowna has always been a destination winery. Currently under a glorious rebuild, the new estate features contemporary farmhouse buildings crafted from fieldstone that create a village feel that perfectly melds with the natural surroundings of the property. Featuring a breathtaking lakeview, cedar trees and sweeping vineyard vistas, we cannot wait for this project to be completed.

Open now on the estate is the new Home Block restaurant with a perfect patio and a locally focussed menu, it has already set the stage for the exciting new vibe here.
