iN TRAFFIC: More black ice and winter storm warnings for Interior highways
Black ice has been reported on several highways throughout the Interior this morning.
Winter storm warnings are also in effect for Highways 1, 3, 5 and 97C, according to Environment Canada.
The warning is in effect for the Trans-Canada Highway tonight, Nov. 25, between Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass. Highway 3 will be affected from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass. The warning also applies to the Coquihalla from Merritt to Hope, as well as entire Okanagan Connecter.
There could be as much as 25 centimetres of snow overnight, with the heaviest period expected to come after midnight and hit the Okanagan Connector.
Black ice can be found on Highway 6 EW from Vernon to Lumby, Highway 97 between Coldstream and Vernon, Highway 97A between Enderby and Sicamous, Highway 97B from the start of the highway to Salmon Arm and on Westside Road from Shelter Cove to Highway 97 North, according to DriveB.C.
Black ice and winter storm warnings were an issue yesterday as well.
Highway 1 near Kamloops may have slippery sections between Valleyview Drive and Miners Bluff Road. Also, slushy and slippery sections of Highway 1 can be found between Sicamous and Revelstoke.
Watch for a slippery section on Highway 3A from Green Mountain Road and Bobcat Road.
Limited visibility due to fog has been reported on Highway 5 for 91 kilometres from Kamloops to two km south of Little Fort.
Highway 97 may have slippery sections between Okanagan Falls and Summerland.
Watch for slippery sections on Highway 97C the entire way, between Merritt and West Kelowna.
For skiers and boarders, Sun Peaks Ski Resort got six centimetres of snow in the past 24 hours. Big White Ski Resort has no new snow in the last 24 hours but received 29 cm in the past seven days.
Looking at weather, Kamloops is in for a high of 4 Celsius and low of -2 C with a chance of rain and flurries. Kelowna and Penticton can both expect a high of 3 C and low of 0 C with a chance of showers and flurries. Vernon will see a high of 5 C and low of -1 C with a chance of showers today and flurries tonight.
