Despite a real estate market that has cooled off considerably this year after a wild 2021, some people are still buying very expensive homes at near the asking price.

B.C. Assessments posts sale prices of homes that sold in the past three years on its website and it shows a three-storey house with four bedrooms and six bathrooms covering 6,427 square feet at 5261 Buchanan Rd. in Peachland was registered as sold on June 3 for $7,050,000.

That’s a quarter-million dollars below the $7,298,000 price listed on Jane Hoffman Realty’s website.

It’s way above the $4,359,999 B.C. Assessments lists as its assessed value.

“This private, custom built, high quality estate showcases Okanagan Lakeside living at its best,” the listing reads. “The setting takes advantage of the most amazing views the Okanagan has to offer.”

There is no data file on the highest selling price for homes in the Okanagan but given the rarity of sales in the $7 million price range, there’s a good chance this is the priciest home ever sold in Peachland.

The most expensive house ever sold in the Central Okanagan, and likely all of the Interior of B.C., was in Lake Country.

That house, at 12990 Pixton Rd., sold for $12 million in 2019 and is now listed by Chamberlain Property Group for $22.9 million.
