Swiss Chalet in West Kelowna closing for good after this weekend

The Swiss Chalet in West Kelowna will be plating up its last dishes of rotisserie chicken tomorrow.

That location was in operation for nine and a half years and will close for the final time on Nov. 7, according to a restaurant staffer.

Its closure is part of a larger trend across the chain.

Last year, the locations in Kamloops and Port Coquitlam closed, and the Swiss Chalet in Burnaby – which will be the last remaining location in British Columbia after tomorrow – is slated to close on Dec. 31.

An employee form the Burnaby location, who declined to give her name, said she was handed her notice yesterday after working there for 14 years. She said the decision was made from the company’s head office.

However there are still more than 200 Swiss Chalet locations across Canada listed on the company's website, with the majority in Ontario.

After the Burnaby restaurant closes for good, the closest location for many British Columbians will be located in the Albertan cities of Calgary or Lethbridge.
