Kelowna City Park will be transformed into an adult playground for a new beer festival.

There will be DJs, games and over 30 breweries and cideries to choose from at the Kelowna Beer Fest. About 20 of them will be local to Kelowna, and the rest will be from other parts of B.C., according to co-ordinator Mitch Carefoot.

A similar event used to be held in Kelowna – the Great Okanagan Beer Festival – but it has not been able to get going again since COVID.

“The one that was here was great, it was really well attended,” Carefoot said. “They had breweries from all across Canada – which is awesome too – but we want our focus to be more regional.”

Carefoot said producers that usually offer a mix of new flavours and old favourites, so there will be beers and ciders to appease every drinker.

Without having to travel to breweries throughout B.C., “You get the novelty of trying a bunch of new beer with friends in your own community.”

The festival takes place May 13 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Regular admission is $40 and VIP tickets cost $81 through this link.
