Keep busy during winter by exploring events at this Okanagan winery

A Lake Country winery is offering an array of events to keep guests busy this winter season, from Mexican Mondays to a Valentine’s getaway.

Monday nights at Peak Cellars' restaurant, the Garden Bistro, is Mexican themed. Chefs create Mexican-inspired dishes and to keep guests guessing on the menu as dishes are changed every three to four weeks. The event begins at 3 p.m.

Tuesdays are for pasta, with a three-course dinner for $44, said winemaker Stephanie Stanley.

This year, the winery is participating in Dine Around the Okanagan with a delicious three-course meal for $50, from Jan. 19 to Feb. 10. Through mid-January to early February, locals can sip, savour and save their way around the Thompson-Okanagan as more than 50 restaurants are participating.

“We’re keeping you busy all winter,” Stanley said.

For Valentine’s Day, a sweetheart package is perfect for love birds in need of a getaway from Feb. 10 to 17.

The package includes a two-night stay at one of O'Rourke Family Estates' beautiful accommodation homes, a bottle of sparkling wine delivered to your suite, a daily continental breakfast, a complimentary tasting at Peak Cellars, dinner at the Garden Bistro and a charcuterie board upon check in.

Shucked Oyster Co. will also be offering a Valentine’s oyster special between Feb. 11 and 14 at the winery.

Riesling seminars are also being held at Peak Cellars starting in February to honour International Riesling Day, March 13.

“Riesling is my favourite variety and we’re really trying to drive and focus on Riesling as a variety here at Peak Cellars,” Stanley said.

Game nights are coming soon, and happy hour is from 3 to 5 p.m. Guests can also enjoy daily specials including $5 off pizzas and tapas specials several times a week.

The winery has a partnership with Vivid tours so guests in need of a safe ride home can be picked up and dropped off from certain Central Okanagan neighbourhoods.
