An RV park and campground nestled beside Okanagan Lake for 66 years has officially shut down, with the property slated to become a massive luxury development.

Yesterday, Oct. 12, Todd's RV and Camping, located at 3976 Beach Ave., announced the end of its 67th, and last, season.

The campsite was listed for sale in 2020 and purchased by Porchlight Developments Inc. in 2021. It was the last privately-owned destination RV park on Okanagan Lake.

“We are proud to have become a platinum-award winner for Okanagan RV Parks. Since 1956, we hosted so many wonderful campers from all around the world, some five generations," wrote owners Graham and Kelly Todd in a Facebook post.

"The Todd family would like to thank all our wonderful staff and all of our guests from over the years… We are all so fortunate to have had this gathering spot for family and friends for so long.”

They could not be immediately reached for comment.

In August 2022, Peachland council signed off on the construction of five luxury towers and bungalows at the former camping site. The project will be constructed in phases and current prices for units range from $999,999 to $3,469,760, according to Porchlight’s website.

There are 42 luxury residences available, six of those are penthouses. It's the only residence in the Okanagan featuring private infinity pools, according to Porchlight.

Kirk Chamberlain, with sales and marketing for the development, said $50 million has already been invested in the property with half of the units sold.

“Pre-sales have been incredible for what is supposed to be a slower real estate market right now,” he said. “We’ve had 100 inquiries so it’s been pretty overwhelming.”

The development will be open in phases with construction beginning in April or May, 2023, he said. The first towers will be ready for occupancy in 2024 and 2025.

Some buyers have been from Peachland but there's also a desire from those wishing to leave Kelowna, he said. Half of the buyers have been from Vancouver so far and has been purchasing them as vacation homes. Two buyers were also from Saskatchewan and Quebec but there have been no foreign buyers at this time, he said.
