Penticton council to consider six-storey apartment on riverfront property
Developers are hoping to build a six-storey apartment with 234 units on a prime piece of Penticton real estate.
They’re proposing to build it on 270 Riverside Drive at the former site of the Ogopogo Motel on the north side of the city.
If approved by city council, the building will contain 234 units, with 28 studio suites, 117 one-bedroom units and 89 two-bedroom units, according to the agenda for the city's upcoming council meeting. There will also be a two-level parkade with 297 parking spots and lockers for 261 bicycles.

The applicant is asking for vacation rentals and food trucks to be allowed in the bylaw, and to reduce the minimum setback from the back of the property from 25 metres to 2.5 m. Staff recommended council approve those requests.
The proposed development is aligned with the Northern Gateway Development plan – a visionary plan to redevelop the city’s north, according to city planners.
Council will discuss it at the next council meeting on Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. It can be streamed live or watched later through the city's website.
