Craft cannabis enthusiasts rolling up to Kelowna for 4-20 summit
A resort in Kelowna will be the joint that hosts the 2022 B.C. Cannabis Summit.
The event is a three-day policy conference and trade show at the Eldorado Resort that begins on April 20, according to a press release from the B.C. Craft Farmers Co-op, which is co-costing it with the Association for Canadian Cannabis Retailers.
“What better place to host an important cannabis summit and celebrate 4/20/22 than B.C.,” said Jaclynn Pehota, executive director of retailers' association, which represents more than 100 storefront in B.C. “This policy conference and trade show is an opportunity to establish our province’s independent retailers and craft farmers as job creators, innovators and engines of sustainable economic growth that can support Canada’s post-pandemic recovery.”

The two organizations are working closely with Tourism Kelowna.
“Kelowna, other Okanagan and Indigenous communities are early leaders in understanding the potential of B.C.’s craft cannabis sector,” farmers co-op president Nicole Post said in the release.
“This high-profile event can build on these efforts to position the region as a global cannabis headquarters," she said. "With a rich agricultural history, excellent facilities, and reputation as a prime tourism destination, Kelowna is a natural choice to host our first BC Cannabis Summit.”
In addition to the business trade show and policy discussion, there will be advice from industry experts, a farmers' market with a rural consumption site, industry networking and resolutions will be passed.
Post said one policy discussion will probably revolve around “reseting the burdensome micro-class licensing policies in 2022," as the federal government will be reviewing cannabis legislation.
