A woman is dead after a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Kamloops.

Tk’emlups RCMP responded to a crash on the highway east of Savona on the afternoon of Aug. 11, according to a press release from police.

There were two women in a pickup truck going east when the truck hit the ditch. Police said it appears the driver overcorrected and the truck rolled over into the ditch on the other side of the highway.

Both women were trapped inside the truck, but the fire department helped get them out.

The passenger was found dead, and the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP said both women were from Port Coquitlam, but provided no further details about their identities.

BC Coroners Service, RCMP, and BC Highway patrol are investigating the crash.

Police are asking any witnesses to contact RCMP at 250-314-1800.
