While many people in Kelowna are struggling to pay their rent or mortgage, the ultra-wealthy are perusing listings like these luxurious mansions where a sports car has more living space than a nuclear family.

Harrison Peers is a real estate agent in B.C., tasked with finding millionaires their luxury dream home, and he made some promotional videos for a $12.9 million mansion and a $16 million mansion in Kelowna.

“The average home price when I got my real estate license was about $2 million. I looked at it and I went, OK, so everything's luxury. If it's $2 million, the average person, that's out of reach without a long time savings or some serious income, so why not target luxury buyers and luxury sellers?” Peers said.

The two properties in Kelowna on Sheerwater Court have features like a garage elevator so the homeowner can lift their car into a showroom.

“From the bottom garage, you have a lift that can carry a vehicle up to the higher garage that doesn't actually have road access. So you can park your McLaren, you can park your Ferrari, and you can look out at the view. You can sit there with your buddies, have a couple of glasses of whiskey and really take in everything that is good about being alive,” Peers said. "I would point at that elevator and I would say that is one of the most wild features I have seen."

Some might assume someone famous is going to be buying these homes, but Peers said it’s usually someone whose wealth has a less glamorous origin.

“It's people coming in who invented something silly and made 20, 30 million dollars selling it. And here they are buying their residence,” he said.

Peers said most celebrities who are looking for a home have a trusted real estate agent who is going to keep their interests confidential.

“Ryan Reynolds knows his agent. And when Seth Rogen wants to buy... he calls Ryan and asks for a recommendation. You do see them, but it's not common compared to, like the concrete business,” Peer said.
