KELOWNA - If you’re headed out for your morning coffee this Saturday, you can top it up with a donation towards the community.

Just drop by Denny’s Saturday morning, May 19, between 9 a.m. and noon and all your coffee purchases will be donated to the Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charitable Society and, in turn, to The Bridge Youth and Family Services.

Denny’s manager Ashtin Grunwald says the local restaurant has raised money in the past, but nothing like this. She and her staff wanted to step up this year to do something different.

Aided by Kelowna firefighters, who will bring a truck into the parking lot, they will be serving coffee in the restaurant at 2130 Harvey Ave. and they are hoping to have so many takers that they have to move it into the parking lot as well.

“This is the first year for this and we wanted to try something different and give back to the community and have fun doing it,” she says. “We wanted to just go for it."

Kids are also invited to take pictures with firefighters and their equipment and support a good cause.
