Drunk driver pleads guilty five years after Kamloops collision
A man pleaded guilty in Kamloops court after a drunk driving collision put multiple people in the hospital five years ago.
Jason Wesley Hurl, born in 1974, avoided a trial that was scheduled to last more than a week by pleading guilty today, April 17. He was facing six charges but pleaded guilty to two of them.
In February 2019 he was driving on Westsyde Road in the city and was involved in a crash in which three people were taken to hospital.
At the time, police said a Toyota Corolla cross the centre line and struck a Hyundai Elantra. Two people in the Elantra were critically injured.
The Toyota was seen driving erratically before the crashed, and police said they believed the driver was drunk.
The extent of his injuries or the other two people were not detailed in court, nor were the circumstances.
Hurl will appear in court again in June when lawyers will propose a sentence for two counts for impaired driving causing bodily harm.
