Luxury Glamping in Wine Country

Imagine standing on the deck of a luxurious tent house looking down the slope of a quiet vineyard. It's dusk, and while you and your partner sip on a delicious Pinot Noir Rosé, the nighthawks fly over the vineyard like guardians of the valley. You smell the subtle aroma of ponderosa pine, and hints of chocolate from the yellow Balsamroot blooming along the bank.

This idyllic setting in Okanagan Falls is found at Nighthawk Vineyards, a family run boutique vineyard overlooking the scenic Green Lake valley.

You have two choices for luxury tent house accommodation; the Twisted Pine Suite and the Balsam Suite. Perfect for a romantic getaway, or anyone needing some quiet time to relax, these two luxury tents have even more perks than the setting. Besides the private deck and patio overlooking the vineyards and lake, every guest receives a bottle of Nighthawk wine and daily in-suite continental breakfast. An intimate dinner service on the patio of their award-winning restaurant is also available upon request, with more stunning views and an exceptional menu prepared for accommodation guests only.

Inside your suite, you’ll enjoy the king size bed, air conditioning, rain shower, soaker tub on the deck, and original Okanagan artwork adorning the walls. This is glamping at its best.

Twisted Pine Suite

The Twisted Pines Suite is so named because of a significant old ponderosa pine tree growing adjacent to it. The tree has naturally twisted with age and weather, and in the hot sun, smells like vanilla.

If you look above the plush king size bed, there’s a commissioned painting by renowned Kelowna artist Alex Fong of this unique tree and the nighthawks nesting. Alex also paints wine labels for Nighthawk Vineyards, and you can find samples of his work by visiting Nighthawk’s website. In the entrance of the Twisted Pines, there is also a painting by Brian Bueller reflecting the view of the vineyard from the patio, and a sculpture of woven grape vines in the washroom by Annabel Stanley.

The Balsam Suite

Aptly named for the yellow Balsamroot blooming around the suite’s hillside in showy sunflower-like displays, the Balsam Suite is pure luxury immersed in nature. A boldly coloured landscape by Penticton’s Dorothy Tinning hangs at the entry. She is a member of the Artists for Conservation, placing great value on conservation and the protection of nature. As you sip your glass of Nighthawk merlot, study the original by Fiona Neal, an abstract artist from West Kelowna, painted with acrylic on canvas to complement the yellow Balsamroot. It is easy to see that Daniel and Christy Bibby are big supporters of local artists as part of the experience.

“Fine art, wine and food are married together in so many ways.” Daniel Bibby, owner
