RCMP raid illegal cannabis concentrate lab in Boundary region

Midway RCMP raided a clandestine laboratory for producing a cannabis concentrate in Beaverdell this week.

The lab made a cannabis concentrate known as shatter, which can be made using butane creating a dangerous situation when done improperly, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP raided the rural lab on Wednesday, March 27.

“Due to the hazardous nature of the property, the RCMP Federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response team and Forensic Identification Section were mobilized to assist, mitigate and disassemble the lab,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé said in the release.

The investigation into the laboratory began in early 2024 and is still ongoing as police gather evidence.

Police did not reveal whether anyone was arrested in the raid or whether officers seized any product.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Midway RCMP at 250-449-2244 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
