Pizzamor’eh in West Kelowna has been around since 2019, so it is not like they are new to the wood-fired pizza scene. They have a very loyal following, too. Pizzamor’eh co-owner Dax Guest Ross explains: “Two years ago, we moved our business exclusively to a ready-to-bake pizza available in popular Okanagan grocery stores. Pizzamor’eh started off as a sit-down restaurant.” But challenges with the lease at their location, and pandemic restrictions, led them to adjust their sales model.

The way Pizzamor’eh adapted was that they jumped into the frozen ready-to-bake category. Mamamoe’eH (AKA Patricia Guest, and also, Dax’s mom) drove that change by getting their delicious, locally made pizzas into grocery stores all throughout the Okanagan. You can find Pizzamor’eh’s great line-up of pizzas at locations such as Nature’s Fare and T-Bones, and an extensive list of boutique grocery stores. Chances are Pizzamor’eh’s pizzas are in a freezer section in a store near you. “We are closing in on 40 locations that carry our pizzas now, and we are adding more locations constantly,” Dax says.

What Dax and his mom realized is that when people wanted to pick up a pizza to cook at home, there just wasn’t anything that matched the top-quality Pizzamor’eh pizza they were producing. They had a fabulous product and could shift to pizzas perfect to par-bake and freeze, so the decision to go for the ready-to-bake frozen market was a no-brainer. There has been no looking back, either, as their take-home pizzas have really taken off.

The list of Pizzamor’eh pizza types is a mouth-watering read. From meat lover pizzas to a Mediterranean-inspired veggie pizza, Dax and his staff have established a winning set of options. Take the Back-Yard BBQ Chicken Pizza, for example. One of their biggest sellers, it’s a mouth-watering pizza with a smoky BBQ base, mozzarella cheese, roast chicken, sweet pineapple, and a mix of peppers for a kick of heat. The AfterBigg-eh is the meat lover’s edition, with a mix of locally made pepperoni, house made mild Italian sausage and crispy bacon.

Pizzamor’eh’s ready-to-bake line includes six or seven heavy-hitters (they occasionally rotate in new ones, especially at the West Kelowna location). Dax is a self-proclaimed meat lover, so I was surprised when he told me his current favourite. “Vegg’eh Patch, actually,” Dax tells me, chuckling. “I mean, I love our meat pizzas, too, but the Vegg’eh Patch is a Mediterranean influenced pizza that I’m into right now.”

Dax and Mamamoe’eh take the sourcing of the ingredients for their pizzas very seriously. Every pizza they make is prepared on a thin crust, made with premium ingredients. Dax proudly tells me how they have worked hard to build relationships with local Okanagan suppliers like Helmut’s Meats and Bonanza Meats, who can provide the top-quality products that Pizzamor’eh demands. Patricia and Dax even go so far as to make their own Italian sausage so that he can ensure the quality they want. The best part is that all the pizzas are locally made, in their West Kelowna location.

To try one of the fabulous Pizzamor’eh options, grab a pizza from the freezer section at any of the grocery stores carrying their product. The Pizzamor’eh website has a full list of those places, stores that include Don-O-Ray Market in Kelowna, Lakeview Market on the Lakeshore in Kelowna, the Mediterranean Market in Kelowna, and Askew’s Grocery in Armstrong, just to name a few.
