While online shopping increased during the pandemic lockdown, consumers are returning to post-COVID patterns, browsing in-store for merchandise where they can see items close-up and checking size and quality. With lessening anxiety has come a change in mood as Canadians are eager to get back to meeting each other in malls and stores. With the summer heat, indoor shopping is the perfect place to visit and shop. While there’s an increasing desire to see what’s on the shelves, spending patterns are changing to cope with rising prices and supply chain issues.

Retail Sales Are Bouncing Back

Retail sales are starting to rebound in B.C. as we settle into the “new normal” post-COVID. We’ve picked up a few habits in the past two years, and expect cleaner stores and sanitized shopping baskets, especially in grocery stores. We like our private space to be respected, and the choice of wearing a mask or going without one without judgement. Retail sales in 2022 are on an upward trend as our economy slowly returns to pre-pandemic levels. Some products are hard to get, and some easy. Everyone is learning to discriminate between brand and cost. In the past five months, consumer buying has also been affected by inflation and the cost of gas and transportation. Supply chain bottlenecks are disrupting inventory levels of some brands, while others have become more popular.

Discount Retail Is a Great Way to Save Money

Shopping at liquidation stores is a great way for people to cope with the rising cost of living. These stores specialize in finding deals, stocking their stores with everything from tech, fashion, outdoor gear, hardware, kitchenware, furniture – even groceries. One of the best-known retail chains is the Big Box Outlet Store who offer excellent prices. These stores pride themselves in being family and Canadian-owned, friendly, helpful, and serving consumers on any budget with lower priced, high-quality items. The range often includes brands you’d see at other stores for much higher prices. Stock moves quickly, and changes daily. This summer look to stock up at a local liquidation store while saving money!
