DO-IT-YOURSELF TIPS
1. Replace the air filter in your furnace.
2. Consider upgrading to a pleated or HEPA if your current filter is flat.
3. Remove the vent covers and vacuum the dust from the air vents and ducts.
4. Turn off the power from the main circuit breaker to the furnace. Remove the air handler cover. Inspect the blower belt for cracks and replace the belt if it is damaged.
5. Find the exhaust flue outside and make sure it is free of debris to ensure proper ventilation.
6. Depending on the type of furnace you own, you may need to switch to heat mode and light the pilot light. Refer to your manual on how to light and troubleshoot the pilot light and thermocouple.
7. Please remember to keep flammable objects away from your furnace and remove clutter blocking airflow from the vents.
