THOMPSON-OKANAGAN — A watch remains in place for the northern lights tonight so if the clouds stay away we could once again get a glimpse of the dancing auroras.
The Space Weather Prediction Center says while the storm is winding down a minor watch is in place that could see the northern lights make an appearance even further south than normal.
The original watch was issued for Thursday evening and people in some parts of Canada were able to see the lights yesterday, but for many of us in the Okanagan the cloud cover proved to be too much.
The watch has been extended through tonight as activity continues and with only a chance of clouds to partly cloudy conditions expected throughout the region overnight there is a good chance that if the lights make an appearance we will be able to see them.
The center notes the bulk of the 'geomagnetic disturbance' is over and levels will return back to normal but further eruptions are possible.
