Woman found dead on shore of Thompson River in Kamloops identified

KAMLOOPS - The BC Coroners Service has identified the woman who was found dead near Lorne Street in Kamloops last week.

Shirley Marie Thomas, 53, was from Vancouver. On July 12 a passerby found an unresponsive woman on the Thompson River bank near Lorne Street.

The person immediately called for help but Thomas was declared dead at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service says in a release they and the RCMP are continuing to investigate the death and foul play has been ruled out.

Thomas' family has been notified of her death.
