Woman firing gun busted at Kelowna farm following large-scale RCMP response

A woman shooting a firearm at a rural Kelowna property was arrested early this morning following a large police operation.

According to a Kelowna RCMP media release, first thing this morning, June 8, a witness saw the woman shooting a firearm at the farm in the 2800 block of Appaloosa Road, which contains multiple buildings where many people live.

Kelowna RCMP, along with an armoured vehicle and a dog team, surrounded the property and residents were told to shelter in place for their safety.

The woman appeared to be distraught and was moving in and out of a garage before sitting on the steps of one of the buildings, police said.

Officers then swopped in and arrested her.

"This was a dynamic and fluid situation which quickly came to a successful conclusion thanks to the officers involved," Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in a media release.

No one was injured during the arrest and police say the woman is known to them.

The unnamed woman will face several firearm-related charges following an investigation.
