WolfPack women's basketball split in Manitoba

Winnipeg, MB—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s basketball team split their first Canada West road swing of the season. After taking the Manitoba Bisons on Friday (Nov 11), the Pack fell 70-53 to Manitoba on Saturday. 

SYNOPSIS

It was the first victory for the Bisons this season.  Both Manitoba and TRU have records of 1 and 3.  TRU was led by Shenise Sigsworth (4th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) who had 16 points. Emily Vilac (3rd year, forward, Kamloops, BC) added 11 points.  Manitoba’s top gunner was Nicole Konieczny who had 16 points.  Taylor Randall added 15

THOMPSON RIVERS
Shenise Sigsworth: 16 points 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 steal  33 minutes
Emily Vilac: 11 points  5 rebounds (4 on defense), 2 assists in 30 minutes
Michelle Bos: 10 points  8 rebounds (6 on defense), 3 assists in 28 minutes

MANITOBA:
Nicole Konieczny: 16 points, 5 rebounds (3 on offense), 1 assit, 1 steal 34 minutes
Taylor Randall: 15 points, 4 rebounds (3 on defense), 1 assist, 12 steal 35 minutes
Emma Thompson: 13 points, 13 rebounds (10 on defense), 1 steal in 31 minutes
Brittainie Parisien: 11 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals in 18 minutes

“We couldn't match Manitoba's intensity tonight. We aren't going to be in many games if we give up 70 pts a night,” TRU head coach Scott Reeves says.

UP NEXT:

Thompson Rivers will pay a visit to Edmonton, Alberta for two games against the Golden Bears.  Manitoba will visit UBC.
Their next home game will be Friday, November 25th on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre. Tip off will be 6 pm against the UBCO Heat. You can see the game on a pay per view basis by logging onto  WWW.CanadawestTV. The pre-game show will be on the air around 5:45 pm. It will be their last home stand before the Christmas break.
