WolfPack split exhibition doubleheader with Alberta

Kamloops, BC – After winning against the University of Alberta yesterday, The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack were back in action on Friday (March 24th) for two more exhibition games against the Golden Bears. Both of today’s games were seven innings. The two teams split the games today as the ‘Pack took the first game 2-0, while they lost the second game 8-0.

Zach Chaba (Vancouver, BC) started on the mound in game one and was brilliant as he throw a complete game shutout on 77 pitches.

Ethan Mohan (Calgary, AB) and Malcolm Upton (Maple Ridge, BC) drove in the two runs for the WolfPack in game one. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB), Blayne Halland (Kamloops, BC) and Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) had the other three hits in the game. Hillis and Connor McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) scored the two runs.

Joe Siniscalchi (Burnaby, BC) started game two for the WolfPack. He threw three innings, allowing only one run in three hits and one walk. He also struck out two Alberta batters. Anthony Walcott (White Rock, BC) threw one inning, allowing two runs on two hits. Jordy Cunningham (Ladner, BC) threw one inning. He allowed one hit, walked a batter and struck out a batter. Josh Snider walked two batters but struck out the side in his inning of work. Duncan Elgert (Calgary, AB) can into the game in the seventh. He allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits. Aaron Lemoine (Winnipeg, MB) allowed one run on two hits and a walk.

TRU couldn’t execute offensives in game two as they left the bases loaded three times during the game and only got three hits all game. Austin Dundas (Pilot Butte, SASK) and Greg Labranche (Maple Ridge, BC) each hit a double. Yutaro Takasaki (Japan) also had a base hit.

The regular season was supposed to start on Saturday (March 25th) for the WolfPack against the University of Fraser Valley Cascades in Chilliwack but because of poor weather the games have been postponed until a further date. As this is the case, the University of Alberta is going to stay in town and the WolfPack will continue to play exhibitions against them this weekend. They will play a doubleheader tomorrow (9 inning games) starting at 12pm. Second game is set for 3pm. Games are at Canada Games Field on McArthur Island.

The ‘Pack’s regular season will start next weekend (April 1st and 2nd) at home against the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs.
