KELOWNA - People won’t have a problem finding things to do around Kelowna this weekend. The hard part will be choosing which to partake in.

Kicking off the weekend, Food Truck Friday's are back. Hosted by Kettle River Brewing Company, the CrAsian Food Truck will be at Kettle River from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday night, Balding For Dollar$ is hosting an event at The Laurel Packinghouse from 6 p.m. until midnight. The fundraiser will support children and their families battling cancer at Kelowna General Hospital. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Fluid Power Solutions in Kelowna.

Also taking place on Friday night is the 40th Annual B.C. Interior Jazz Festival. The festival will have concerts each night from award-winning musicians as well as will offer free workshops by master jazz musicians. During the day, the event gives middle and secondary school jazz students the opportunity to showcase their talents. The event will be running all weekend at the Kelowna Community Theatre. Tickets are available at the door for $3.

To add more to the list of potential activities, Saturday is National Earth Day, as well as International Record Store Day.

The grand opening of the new Biodiversity exhibit will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Okanagan Heritage Museum.

Both Underground Records and Milkcrate Records will be celebrating Record Store Day.

Saturday also marks Milkcrate’s fifth birthday, which will be held at The Forum in Kelowna. Tickets for Milkcrate’s evening events are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. There will be live music, food and drinks as well as a silent auction.

Saturday evening will see two exciting events celebrating local food and drink. Appetite for Art is an annual fundraising gala offering food and drinks from a variety of local companies, set amongst art at the Kelowna Art Gallery. This year’s theme is a ‘walk in the woods’. Unfortunately tickets are sold out.

If you are still wanting a chance to taste food from the Okanagan, Sip & Savour offers an opportunity to try paired tastings from a variety of local restaurants, wineries and breweries. Tickets are $30 with proceeds going towards the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

Cody Pollard is the owner of Fermented Dining - who is hosting the event. He says the event is trying to get people to think differently about how to use food waste.

“We have so many unique and awesome people working in the food and beverage industry in the valley - we want to showcase them,” Pollard said. “We have a few venders who really specialize in reusing food waste in really cool ways.”

The event will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at The Laurel Packinghouse.

To wrap up the weekend, popular music artist Shawn Hook will be performing at the Kelowna Community Theatre on Sunday. He is most famous for his single Sound of Your Heart. Tickets range from $25 to $35.
