Wine of the week: My new fave, Narrative malbec

This Malbec from Narrative wines is my new favourite discovery.
This Malbec from Narrative wines is my new favourite discovery.

Malbec is a Bordeaux grape that you may not be too familiar with in our industry as a single varietal. Very popular in Argentina, Malbec is used in many of our B.C. blends and does not see the spotlight alone very often in B.C.

Narrative wines makes a gorgeous Malbec. Narrative is a collection of wines and spirits made from grapes sourced from independent growers across the Okanagan and is one of the labels produced by Okanagan Crush Pad in Summerland under winemaker Matt Dumayne.

Crush Pad was originally opened in 2011 by Christine Coletta and Steve Lornie to make their original wine label Haywire, and to serve as a custom crush facility. Since then the empire has expanded to include wine labels: Haywire, Narrative, Free Form, and Bizou + Yukon. Crush Pad owns 400 acres of land on three distinct vineyard sites: Switchback Vineyard and Garnet Valley Ranch in Summerland, and Secrest Mountain in Oliver and all are certified organic.

Check out the website and buy online here.

2018 Malbec $34.90

This is an absolutely delicious wine. Warm violets and blackberries explode on the palate with soft sensual tannins coating the mouth. Enjoy with rich hearty meals or fresh air.
Sourced from the Cabana Vineyard on the Osoyoos lakefront. Fermented in Nico Velo concrete tanks and aged on its lees in concrete for 10 months.
