Vernon resident Liz Delanowski enjoys reading on a park bench at 30 Avenue and 29 Street on Tuesday, June 13.

OKANAGAN - While it could be drab and windy today, the weather forecast for the weekend is looking better.

Today, June 15, is expected to be mainly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers throughout most of the Okanagan, according to Environment Canada, with a high of 23 Celsius and windy.

A special weather statement from Environment Canada is still in place, warning winds will be coming through the Okanagan today, June 15, with gusts up to 60 km/h. Due to the high water in Okanagan, Skaha and Osoyoos lakes there are concerns waves could cause shore erosion or other problems.

Tonight it’ll drop to 11 C, with a few showers but winds gusting up to 50 km/h.

Tomorrow, a mix of sun and clouds is predicted with a 30 per cent chance of showers. The wind will still be around, gusting up to 40 km/h, but it will decrease through the day. A high of 23 C is forecast. Overnight expect lows around 9 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers.

After a couple of drab days, Saturday is looking pretty nice, with a sunny day predicted and highs around 23 C. Overnight cloudy periods will roll through, with a low of 11 C expected.

Sunday it’s going to get hot, with a high of around 29 C and a mix of sun and cloud. Overnight it’ll drop back to 11 C.

Next week the heat is expected to remain, with highs in the high 20s and sunny days.

The temperatures this weekend should be around normal for the Okanagan at this time of year ranging from highs at 24 C to lows of 10 C.
