Wildfire threat closes another Kamloops nature path

KAMLOOPS – Tinder dry conditions and the threat of wildfires have forced the closure of the Fortis pipeline right-of-way path between Barnhartvale and Rose Hill until further notice.

This follows the closure of Kenna Cartwright Park, High Canada park, Rosehill Park, Peterson Creek Park, Valleyview Nature Park, Capilano Park, Highland Park and Dallas/Barnhatvale Park on July 8, according to a City of Kamloops media release.

The City says no one is allowed to walk, bike or drive in the listed parks. Call Kamloops Bylaw Enforcement at 250-828-3409 to report anyone using the closed parks.

Smoking is always banned in parks, but given the extreme fire danger rating, City officials are asking everyone to be careful with cigarettes.

Residents should call 911 right away to report a fire.
