WILD WEDNESDAY: How to respect rattlesnakes in their Southern Interior environment

With warmer weather in the Southern Interior comes all sorts of animals poking their heads out, including rattlesnakes.

In this week's Wild Wednesday posted by WildSafe B.C., we get a look at a number of spooked rattlesnakes slithering around.

WildSafe B.C. says in its post that with summer in full swing and more people hiking, it's important to be safe while walking in rattlesnake country.

The snakes aren't aggressive — if you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone. WildSafe says to stay on well-defined trails, and if walking off trails, be careful to only step where you can see what is around your feet.

If you're walking with your dog, be sure to keep it on leash and on the trail. To learn more about rattlesnakes, go here.
