Wild ride on Coquihalla lands Alberta man in hospital

KAMLOOPS - RCMP are still searching for answers after an Alberta man was involved in a single vehicle crash on the Coquihalla Highway this afternoon near the Logan Lake turnoff just outside of Kamloops.

A little after noon today, Aug. 28, police were called to the scene of the crash and were told the driver was going northbound when he crossed the lanes of traffic and left the road.

The driver went up an embankment before rolling and coming back down to the highway about 500 feet from where he left it. The driver was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Mounties say traffic was very heavy at the time which made traffic control an issue and despite ambulance, fire, and police vehicles all being on scene, many drivers did not reduce their speed to 70 km/h when passing the emergency vehicles.

The cause of the incident is unknown and an investigation is ongoing.
