KAMLOOPS - A rapidly moving wildfire is threatening communities within the Bonaparte Plateau.

Yesterday, Aug. 11, at about 5:00 p.m. Char Ranta from the Thompson Nicola Regional District issued an evacuation order for properties located in Electoral Area “E”. This is due to the potential danger of the Wild Goose Lake wildfire threatening people and property.

Those in the described area, must leave and report to the Emergency Reception Centre located at 306 Lebourdais St in Clinton. It is also suggested that evacuees turn off the power and gas to all appliances other than refrigerators and freezers.

The district has also issued an evacuation alert for the following properties:

  • 4385, 4405, and 4415 Big Bar Rd;
  • All even numbered homes from 1876 to 1948 Lake Drive;
  • 2629 to 3193 Little Big Bar Rd;
  • All other properties as seen on the map.

These households should be prepared to evacuate at a moment’s notice.

The Wild Goose Lake wildfire is about 6600 hectares in size. B.C. Wildfire Services reports it is about 30% contained as of yesterday evening at about 5:15 p.m.
