Wide variety of events this weekend in Penticton

PENTICTON - From a traditional sports event to a Harry Potter trivia night, this weekend’s events in Penticton should provide something for everyone.

The weekend begins with the Rock the Sun Concert Series in Penticton providing some of the best music in the west. Aiden and Mandy perform Friday, July 13. Bring a blanket or chair to Gyro Park for the 7 p.m. start of this free, family friendly event.

The Barley Mill Brew Pub is teaming up with Tremendous Trivia Night Productions to present a Harry Potter Trivia night Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.

Dress up in costume and enjoy themed food and drink menu specials while testing your knowledge of the Harry Potter books and movies to win Harry Potter themed prizes. Cost is $15.

The Peach Classic Triathlon, the oldest continuously held triathlon in B.C., takes place Sunday, July 15 for the 36th time in Penticton.

This year marks the introduction of the first edition of the Aqua bike event using the Peach Classic standard course. The event is a qualifier for the upcoming International Triathlon Union World Championships in Spain. For more information about the Peach Classic go here.

The Nankama West African Drum & Dance will perform and lead a community drum circle free of charge in Gyro Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The West African Drum and Dance troupe has performed throughout the Okanagan performing more than 300 shows since 2007.

The Penticton Farmers' and Downtown Community Markets operate once again starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Farmers' Market runs until 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Main Street, while the Community Market goes until 2 p.m.
