West Kelowna firefighters were on scene this morning at the Lakeview Lodge care home after a suspicious fire started beside the property.
Assistant Capt. Conan McCarthy, with West Kelowna Fire Rescue, said firefighters responded to a grass fire just before 8 a.m. this morning.
The fire was roughly five-by-five feet in size and it was bordering undeveloped land and the care home.
The fire is believed to be human caused. There was a small makeshift homeless camp with a melted tent right at the fire’s origin, he said.
“It’s possible that it might be due to that but it’s still under investigation,” McCarthy said.
