West Kelowna allowing four pot shop rezoning applications to go ahead
WEST KELOWNA - Out of an initial list of 10 applications for cannabis retail outlets in West Kelowna, city council will be asked tomorrow to agree to send four of them to rezoning hearings.
Three of the 10 applicants withdrew applications and got partial refunds, one was denied by city staff and two others were put on hold just in case any of the four “approved” for rezoning fall through, according to a city staff report.
Council policy is to allow two stores in the Westbank Centre area and another two in the Boucherie Centre/West Kelowna Business Park/Industrial areas.
Of the four selected to proceed, two are on Industrial Road. Canndara is applying for a site at 1192 Industrial Rd., identified in the staff report as the A&W building. Spirit Leaf at 1195 Industrial Rd. is identified as the World Gym Building.
The other two are in the Westbank Centre. Flora at 3710 Hoskins Rd. in the Quality Greens Building, and Prime Cannabis at 2528 Main St. in the Otter Co-op Building.
CheebA Cheeba at 1812 Byland Rd. and BeKind at 2711 Elliot Rd. were put on hold while Higher Ground at 2437 Main St. was denied.
The four applications, if approved by council tomorrow, March 26, will then go to a public hearing.
