Historic Longview hotel undergoes renovation

LONGVIEW, Wash. - The new owners of Longview's Monticello Hotel are investing in a $2.8 million restoration for the historic property.

The Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/2diHp1D ) that the first floor is currently being renovated. Crews have removed the ballroom's raised floor, exposed original plaster ceilings, ripped up carpet and gutted the kitchen.

Kathy Nelson, her daughter Breanna Alleman and their partner Hollie Hillman built on the success of their legal marijuana business to invest in two local restaurants. Then they turned their focus to the Monticello, Longview's most iconic property.

Nelson, Alleman and Longview residents Mike and Brenda Young will run the hotel's restaurant, ballroom and cafe as Five Star Longview LLC. Five Star is renting the building from Monticello Place, a private company owned by Seattle area investors as well as Alleman and Nelson.
