KELOWNA - The Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Kelowna Rockets 5-2 on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, handing the Rockets just its eighth regulation loss of the season

Seattle led 2-0 after the first period, despite Kelowna holding a 17-9 edge in shots and never relinquished the lead in the game, dropping the Rockets record to 34-8-3-0 on the season.

Seattle netminder Taran Kozun turned in a stellar performance as the Rockets outshot Seattle 38-23 in the game.

Nick Merkley and Madison Bowey had the Kelowna goals as the Rockets cut Seattle's lead to 4-2 in the third but couldn't get any closer with the goaltender pulled.

The Rockets are now idle until next weekend when they host the Everett Silvertips for a pair of games at Prospera Place.

Kelowna and Everett play next Friday and Saturday at Prospera Place.
