Villa Rosa - The Italian Restaurant with the best B.C. wines
Since 1996, Villa Rosa Ristorante has been a landmark eatery in Penticton. Open seven days a week (seasonally) for dinner, this kitchen feeds its community and visitors with delicious, soul satisfying, rustic Italian food, just like a real mama.
Family operated by Tyler and Nicole Gable, the couple infuses their eatery with love and hospitality, like an extension of their own home. The young couple and their two children live in Naramata and are active members of their community — and in this Okanagan community, that means wine.
Villa Rosa hosts a series of extraordinary multiple course dinners during the wine festivals and boasts an extensive wine list that features 90% local B.C. wines and 10% Italian. The Okanagan wine world is celebrated thoroughly here and with gusto. Tyler loves to collaborate and to bring in local winemakers to entertain his guests.
The room beckons in a classic, cozy Italian restaurant style. The terrace in warmer months features old grape vines that artfully twist around the walls providing that extra sense of place. Family celebrations, romantic dates and fun nights out with friends all fit the vibe here.
Want to cook like Villa Rosa at home? Nicole has created a cookbook called Cibo Okanagan filled with all the house favorites. Cibo:'cibo| (pronounced- chee-bow) translates to food in Italian.
“I have always enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with friends and family. It is a chance to talk, to laugh, and most importantly, feel comfortable and connected on deeper levels. All of these dishes have been prepared in our restaurant and are favourites by many," Nicole says. "This book is a collection of everything I’ve learned in our kitchen over the years, with a few ‘twists’ combined with our passion for food, cooking and entertaining. I hope it is just the beginning of many more to come."
