The Vernon & Area 55+ BC Games Host Society is pleased to confirm the host hotel for next year’s Games, celebrate the launch of the 2017 Games website, and request its first official call-out for volunteers.

Although it is anticipated every hotel room will be booked throughout the region during the mid-September Games, the Vernon Lodge & Conference Centre will be the host hotel and an integral part of the Games. David Gibbs, General Manager Vernon Lodge & Conference Centre, commented “On behalf of our ownership and team at the Vernon Lodge, we are thrilled to be the host hotel for the 2017 55+ BC Games. To welcome participants from across the province during our first year of ownership of the Vernon Lodge is an exciting opportunity. Good luck to all the athletes as they prepare for the Games!”

As the majority of participants and their families are traveling to Vernon & Area from all over the province, the “home away from home” becomes the foundation - a place to relax, rejuvenate, eat and socialize with fellow participants all in the spirit of the Games.

The 2017 Games website is now live, and is the source for all 2017 55+ BC Games related information. The site will be updated regularly with more information specific to Vernon & Area activities, a Games overview and the vision for 2017, volunteering opportunities, list of the sports, venues, accommodations and many other helpful links/facts and local maps as these become available.

“We are extremely excited about the progress we are making. With the launch of the Games website, it allows us to better communicate with organizers, athletes, and the public; we will continue to share updates and announcements as we can.” said Anne Haight, Director of Promotions, Vernon & Area 2017 55+ BC Games.

The success of these Games stems from many local area residents volunteering their time and resources to the Vernon & Area Games’ various roles, committees, and board. 1,200 to 1,500 volunteers will be required to execute the Games successfully - all backgrounds and interests are welcome for the many available positions and opportunities throughout the Games. Those wishing to assist in the Games are asked to visit the volunteer registration link on the Games website for more information.
