Vernon Regional Transit holiday season updates

VERNON - Please note that there is no bus service, including handyDART, on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Wintertime road conditions such as heavy snow and black ice can be a challenge for all drivers. When conditions are difficult, please consider Transit as an option. Vernon Transit riders can take advantage of the extended early morning and evening service to travel to work, school and shopping. On Fridays and Saturdays, travel safely to holiday celebrations. For a complete Transit guide that includes holiday hours, please see www.bctransit.com/regions/ver/ridersguide.cfm.

Transit fares in Vernon are $2 per adult, with discounts available when you purchase sheets of tickets or monthly passes that are available at Vernon City Hall, Okanagan College or Nolan’s Pharmasave, located at 3101 30 Ave in Vernon.

The City of Vernon has installed temporary public washroom facilities at the Downtown Vernon Transit Exchange (on the north side of 31st Avenue) that are open the same hours as Transit.

Every time you take Transit, you help fund Vernon Regional Transit—100 per cent of the money received from fares goes back into operating the system. Taking Transit has additional financial benefits to its users: the Government of Canada offers non-refundable tax credits when you purchase a monthly pass, U-PASS or student pass. Save your passes and receipts as proof of purchase.
