Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were called at about 6:45 a.m. today, Jan. 10 for a report of a dead body in the 4200 block of 34 Street in Vernon.
The body was found on the street, RCMP said.
“We’re now in the process of securing the scene and additional resources are being directed to the location to assist with the investigation,” Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer for the detachment, said in the news release. “We’re only in the very early stages of our investigation but based on what we know so far, there does not appear to be any risk to the public.”
RCMP said criminality isn't suspected in the person's death and the BC Coroners Service has been engaged and is conducting its own concurrent fact-finding investigation.
Out of respect for the privacy of the family, RCMP said, no further details will be released.
