Vernon RCMP investigate gun theft

Vernon RCMP

VERNON - Police are appealing to the public for information about a break-and-enter over the weekend.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a break-and-enter in the 9500 block of Highway 97. An entire gun safe containing 17 rifles and five handguns was stolen from a shed structure attached to a trailer.

“The break-and-enter could have happened earlier in the day around 4 a.m. as a loud bang was heard at about that time,” Molendyk says.

The safe would have required several people to move it, Molendyk says.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171.
