Vernon man found bleeding, barely conscious after stabbing in Kelowna

KELOWNA - A Vernon man is in critical condition after he was stabbed at an apartment complex on Pandosy Street Tuesday night.

RCMP Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says officers were called to the 1900-block of Pandosy Street just before 11 p.m. yesterday, April 5, with a report a man had been stabbed and lost a significant amount of blood.

A citizen found the victim, a 26-year-old man from Vernon, wandering near Sutherland Avenue and gave him first aid until police arrived.

O'Donaghey says it appears as though the victim exited the apartment building to look for help.

“RCMP officers immediately arrived on scene prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel,” O’Donaghey says. “Officers quickly secured a tourniquet on one of the victim’s limbs which effectively stopped the victim’s bleeding.”

Barely conscious and uncooperative with police, the man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

O’Donaghey says the investigation into this “serious assault” is ongoing and ask anyone with any information to contact the Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section at 250-762-3300. Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
