Vernon man arrested for dangerous driving after hit and run
RCMP officers arrested a 34-year-old Vernon man after a hit and run this past weekend.
Vernon RCMP received several calls from the public about a black car that had committed a hit and run, and was continuing to drive erratically through the city on Sunday, Jan. 28, according to an RCMP press release.
Police used the information from the public to track down the car at a residence in the 4000 block of 32 Street.
The man has been charged with dangerous driving.
The driver was arrested and then released later that day.
He's scheduled to make an appearance in court at a later date.
“We want to thank everyone who took the time to report this to us,” Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in the release. “Dangerous, impaired, and other forms of aggressive driving puts everyone at risk and should be reported immediately to police. The information and assistance you provide helps us take drivers like this off the road.”
