Vernon kids encouraged to take the walking school bus

VERNON – Students at several schools in Vernon will take part in the launch of the 2015 Pace Car program as part of International Walk to School Month.

Vernon is one of three cities in Canada to be awarded a grant from Parachute to expand the Pace Car program.

Parachute is a charity dedicated to preventing injuries and saving lives.

Mayor Akbul Mund and several city councillors will be taking park in the walking school buses the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 7.

As well, Ellison Elementary school principal Jacqueline Taylor will talk about iWalk and the 2015 Pace Car program in the school’s gym.

Students from Alexis Park Elementary will be launching the program on Monday, Oct. 5, while the kids at Harwood Elementary will have their launch on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
